OUR

Vision

We’re proud to be a welcoming, family-friendly club that values teamwork, discipline, and respect.

Practices focus on fun, fitness, and building confidence, ensuring every child feels part of something bigger.

With Sarasota Rugby Club, your child will gain more than a sport, they’ll gain life skills.

At Sarasota Rugby Club, our vision is to invest in the local pool of talented young athletes and build a sustainable system that consistently promotes players through every stage of our program.

Rugby is more than just fitness, it’s a sport that develops both the mind and body. It teaches respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and supporters, while instilling the discipline, determination, and resilience needed to succeed on and off the field.

Our mission is to develop youth players safely and responsibly, focusing first on the principles of play before promoting them into the first team when they are physically and mentally ready.

With a carefully managed and sustainable approach, we believe in promoting from within. Our youth section is the foundation of who we are, and our success as a club depends on continuing to grow and nurture this pathway.

  • Rugby isn’t just another sport, it’s a unique opportunity for children to grow in ways that go far beyond the field. While many youth sports emphasize winning, rugby emphasizes respect, teamwork, and belonging. Every child has a role to play, no matter their size, skill level, or athletic background

In rugby, the tall, the strong, the fast, and the agile all matter equally. That means your child won’t be left on the sidelines, they’ll be an important part of the action. Rugby also rewards perseverance and character as much as physical ability, building determination, resilience, and self-belief 💪 that carry into school, friendships, and everyday life.

    Why parents choose rugby:

    • ✅ Every child can contribute, no one is left out

    • ✅ Combines fun, fitness, and discipline

    • ✅ Builds confidence and resilience on & off the field

    • ✅ Teaches life lessons, not just game skills

  • We understand that safety is every parent’s first question and it’s our first priority, too. Sarasota Rugby Club follows strict USA Rugbyguidelines to ensure children are introduced to the game step by step.

    • ✋ Younger age groups start with TOUCH RUGBY!

    • 🏉 Tackling is introduced under guided certified coaching

    • 😬 Mouthguards and safety gear are always required

    • 🧑‍🏫 Coaches are certified, first aid trained & focused on child development

    👉 The Result:

Kids gain confidence in a safe, structured, and caring environment. Parents can relax knowing their child is protected while having fun 🎉.

  • Rugby is often called the “GAME FOR LIFE” because the lessons stick long after the final whistle. Kids love the running, passing, and scoring tries, but the real value is in the life skills they gain.

Through rugby, your child will learn:

🤝 Teamwork – relying on and supporting others

💪 Resilience – bouncing back after challenges

🗣️ Leadership – guiding teammates, making decisions

📢 Communication – calling for the ball, staying connected

These skills transfer into the classroom 📚, friendships, and future careers, making rugby one of the best investments in your child’s growth.

  • At Sarasota Rugby Club, we often say: “you don’t just join a team, you join a family.” And that’s exactly what our Youth Academy creates… a safe, welcoming space where kids and parents alike feel part of something bigger.

Children quickly form bonds through shared practices, games, and celebrations. Even kids who may not have “fit in” with other sports discover a place where they belong. Rugby culture is built on camaraderie, respect, and inclusion.. no cliques, no benchwarmers, just teammates supporting one another.

Parents feel it too. Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines 📣 helping at events, or meeting other families after training, you’ll become part of a community that cares. For many families, this sense of belonging is just as valuable as the rugby itself.

  • Rugby is one of the rare sports where every child can thrive. Some kids will be fast runners, others strong tacklers, and some naturally great passers. Whatever their build or skill level, rugby has a position where they can shine.

Beyond positions, rugby training develops total-body fitness in a fun way. Kids improve speed, agility, endurance, and strength while playing games and learning skills, NOT by grinding through boring drills. Many parents notice their kids growing fitter and more confident after only a few weeks of training.

Even better, rugby builds confidence in the body itself. Children learn that their unique size and abilities are assets, not limitations. Whether your child is small, tall, lean, or stocky, rugby teaches them to be proud of what they can do.

  • Our Youth Academy is designed as a long-term journey, not a one-off season. Younger kids start with fundamentals, learning how to: run, pass, and work together. As they grow older, skills and challenges increase gradually, always keeping development age-appropriate.

For those who want to go further, Sarasota Rugby Club provides real opportunities: competitive high school rugby 🏆, connections to college programs 🎓, and even pathways toward elite rugby both in the U.S. and abroad 🌍. We’ve seen players go from complete beginners to leaders on the field in just a few years.

But the pathway isn’t only about elite opportunities. It’s also about steady, positive growth at every level. Even if your child doesn’t pursue rugby long-term, they’ll leave with improved fitness, lifelong friendships, and the confidence to face challenges head-on.
