Our

Mission

At Sarasota Rugby Club, our mission is simple… grow the game, build better players, and create a Rugby Family that lasts a lifetime. On the pitch, we compete with pride. Off the pitch, we support each other, give back to our community, and welcome anyone ready to be part of the team

Our goal is to make rugby accessible to everyone. That’s why we keep player fees low and offer scholarships to ensure no one is left on the sidelines. By focusing on character as much as competition, we’re shaping the next generation of leaders on the field and in life.

History

Founded in 2010 by a mix of international and American players, the Sarasota Surge Rugby Club was built to bring the spirit of rugby to our community. What started as a handful of passionate athletes has grown into a thriving family of players, coaches, and supporters.

Today, our club is home to a Youth Academy and a competitive Men’s Rugby team, offering a clear pathway from U8, U11, U13, U15, High School, and up through the senior squad. We’re proud to welcome newcomers, seasoned veterans, and social members alike — whether you’ve played for years or are just curious about the game, there’s a place for you here.

Our season runs from September through April, and our players represent not only Sarasota but countries from all over the world. Rugby is one of the fastest-growing sports on the East Coast, and we regularly host traveling teams from across the U.S. and abroad — fueling the global connection that makes rugby so unique.

At Sarasota Surge, our ethos is simple: We are family. More than a team, we are a community that grows together, pushes each other to improve, and celebrates every win — on and off the field.

More than just a rugby pitch, it’s a true community hub, complete with a full bar and food service for players, supporters, and guests to enjoy on game days.
